School time is almost here. Whether the kids are excited or dreading it, it’s inevitable. And we as parents will now have even more on our plates as we schedule time for shuffling them around to games, practices, lessons, and time for homework help. Which reminds me of some Bible verses:

"And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches." Proverbs 24:4

"For wisdom is a safeguard, as money is a safeguard, but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom giveth life to them that have it." Ecclesiastes 7:12

"Teach me good discernment and knowledge, For I believe in Your commandments." Psalms 119:66

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction." Proverbs 1:7

"For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding." Proverbs 2:6

"The mind of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge." Proverbs 18:15

September and October are also the time of harvest. Many of you still farm and will be working diligently to bring in your crops before the first frost. You have worked hard this spring and summer to be assured of a bountiful harvest. Verses this reminds me of are:

“But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.” Mark 4:29

“Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.” Jeremiah 5:24

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest unto the priest: Leviticus 23:10

Good luck to our students. Happy harvest to our farmers. And Happy Halloween to all our future goblins.

Your's in Christ,
Pastor Sue
