A nurse on the pediatric ward, before listening to the little ones’ chests, would plug the stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own hearts. Their eyes would always light up with awe. But she never got a response to equal four-year old David’s.

Gently he tucked the stethoscope in his ears and placed the disk over his heart. “Listen,” she said, “What do you suppose that is?” He drew his eyebrows together in a puzzled line and looked up as if lost in the mystery of the strange tap-tap-tapping deep in his chest. Then his face broke out in a wondrous grin. “Is that Jesus knocking?”

Listen to you heartbeat. Listen for the knock of Jesus upon the door of your heart.

In this season of Lent and upcoming Easter, Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart. Are you listening? He has given his life for our sins and wants us to accept him into our heart and our lives. Are we up for the challenge? It’s not an easy one. To be a true disciple of Christ means that our faith will be challenged, we will be ridiculed, and often attacked for our faith and duty to Christ.

Spring is a time for new beginnings. Jesus is giving us the chance to begin anew also. Are you ready for this new rebirth? Let’s make our goal this year to carry Christ in our hearts, to share our faith with everyone we meet, and spread God’s message throughout the world.

Happy Easter, Happy Spring!

Your's in Christ,
Pastor Sue
