Pastor's Pen

Change can be a hard thing but also a joyful thing. I hope this time of change for us will be a joyful thing. I'm sure all of you are wondering "Just who is this new pastor?" So I decided that I would give you a little background on myself to help you "get to know" who I am. I am looking forward to worshiping with you and sharing in all that you do here at Faith and Ridgeland/Dallas.

I was baptized in the Lutheran church but raised United Methodist. I grew up in Greenwood, South Carolina where I was very involved in my church as well las a local Baptist church.

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire in 2002 with a BA in Psychology/Gerontology and graduated from Capella University with a MS in Human Services w/ Emphasis in Social Work and Community Services.

I have two children. A son, Jamie, Age 33. He is married and living with his wife Shauna in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A daughter, Christina, age 27. She is unmarried and living in Greenwood, South Carolina.

My best friend Jean and her son Raistlin are my little family here, and Raistlin calls me Nama. I thoroughly enjoy being his 'grandma.' You will see a lot of him as he stays with me most every weekend.

I have been very involved in mission work, have served in various positions within the church, began preaching in Altoona in 2008, and began a prison ministry in Chippewa Falls, which I still do once a month, in 2009. I am also part of a youth ministry called Sheltered Reality that I hope to bring up here.
