Frankly Speaking

Greetings to One and All! I am looking forward to the privilege of serving as your interim pastor during the months of May and June. During my term as District Superintendent, I had the opportunity to meet, work and worship with a number of you and I always appreciated the spirit, commitment and cooperation which I experienced in my relationships with these two congregations.

Now we have the opportunity to share - in this brief period of time - as pastor and people together in the ministry of Jesus Christ. In meeting with the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, it was agreed that my service with you would, of course, involve providing worship leadership on each Sunday morning. In addition, on a regular basis, I will be available "on the charge" each Tuesday afternoon and evening as well as for emergency situations, funerals and weddings as they might arise. Messages may be left for me at the parish office or I may be contacted directly at 715/835-4653 (home) or 715/864-8810 (cell). Please don't hesitate to be in touch with me if there is any way, at all, that I might be of service.

A guest minister began his sermon by telling of a childhood experience growing up in a very poor home. It was so poor that if a pane were broken out of a window by the children playing ball or accidentally throwing an object, they couldn't afford to replace it right away so they would take waxed paper and put it in the window frame until it could be appropriately replaced. He then spoke of this role as the guest speaker as being like the waxed paper substituting for the glass pane. Following the service, one of the members pumped his had vigorously and enthusiastically remarked, "Preacher, you don't have to worry about being a substitute! You're a real pain!"

May the spirit of the living Christ guide and bless each of us in the reality of these days together!

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Don
